Go green at iLead Sports Complex

We are blessed enough with a lot of natural endowments from our mother earth, but the only sad tale lies behind is that it’s non-renewable. The macrocosm has an enormous impact on the microcosm of our lives. Gifts are meant to be used, keeping in mind that once that snuffs out, nothing can ever replace its worth. Our bizarre expectations about the universe showering its treasured resources unceasingly, sounds coherent only when we become a bit responsible towards it.
Starting from the streetlights back in Saltlake which uses solar technology to replenish itself, to the modern residential complexes which are using contemporary techniques to reuse water, Kolkata has already started laying slabs of sustainability. It is one among those cities which is vigorously leading towards a goal, to save the environment from the repugnance in future. Stirred by the Heritage Restoration and DIY maker’s movement around the world, iLEAD second campus is a result of the sheer creativity with the goal of encouraging the concept of recycle and use.
The college is constructed, keeping in mind the 3R’s formula, thus reducing the emissions released while making new materials, reusing and recycling things which were previously discarded but are now put to use.
Recycled plastic bottles cut in shape of pots, filled with plants, in the vertical garden or the green wall at the entrance is a cherry on top as it also promotes green living intermingled with reusability. “It’s rare to find such a exquisite atmosphere within a toxic environment. Strolling down the street is always so fresh and lively!” remarks Nirabari Bandhyopadhyay, staff member, iLEAD. The décor of the campus made out of usable items built from discarded materials will survive you with sheer brilliance of innovation and ideas.
Studying and ideating in this campus will inspire students to generate the practice and ground breaking eco-friendly concepts, and also nurture their entrepreneurial skills. The real estate and Media science students of Ilead and the students of women ITI has been involved in the beautification of the architectural marvel. Sewing machine just with a pinch of creativity, are made into wash basins. Broken chairs and tables collected from scrap yards are fixed and put to wise use. The campus stands identical to many buildings in Kolkata, yet unique in its characteristics.
iLEAD with this step of putting creative ideas of the student community into the action so that they can impact their own lives and the world with innovation and recycling as an harbinger of environmental and social media.
